Background

In recognition that our schools have poor learning outcomes and that ICT has the potential for bridging the gap, Save the Children with support from Avaya, proposes to introduce ICT based learning in 10 Zila Parishad Schools in Haveli block in Pune district.

Intervention

The assessment study was done towards identifying the opportunities and risks and also to identify

  • Track Progress of Year 1 Intervention Schools (Academic year 2016-17)
  • Gather Baseline data for Year 2 Intervention Schools (Academic year 2017-18)

Services

For testing the academic performance of the students, a set of tools (question papers) was developed based on the prescribed school curriculum for English, EVS, and Science for Classes IV, V and VI. Data was also collected on additional parameters for the baseline of Year 2 schools (Academic year 2017-18), the methodology involved interaction with three key stakeholders namely (i) teachers, (ii) students and (iii) SMC members using structured questionnaires and checklists.

The data collected was further collated and analyzed to compare the academic performance of students in the year 1 intervention schools with the year 2 intervention schools along with understanding the role played by the Teachers, HM, SMC members in the proper functioning and implementation of ICT based learning in the concerned schools.
