Background
JSW Cement Limited (JSWCL) operates a 2.4 MTPA cement grinding unit at Salboni, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal which started operation in 2017. The CSR catchment of the plant comprises of 28 villages
Intervention
The CSR projects at JSW respond to the imperatives of the host community as gleaned through a bottom-up planning approach. JSWCL intends to launch a comprehensive CSR program so as to bridge the development gaps and help the host community to meet its aspirations
Services
(i) Help JSWCL management and stakeholders identify and understand the needs and aspirations of the community at large. This will give direction for designing and planning of CSR programs in the area, (ii) Assist in establishing a baseline in terms of socioeconomic status, demographics, migration patterns, livelihood trends, health & education status. (iii) Build a resource map marking the public utilities in the vicinity of the CSR villages, road conditions and people’s preference for assessing them, (iv) Assess the ongoing schemes of the government their issues and possibilities of collaboration, details of existing institutions in the region who could be possibly used for leveraging of resources and partnerships. A quantitative and qualitative methodology used for an in depth assessment in each of the 28 villages in the CSR catchment.
